Self Realization Fellowship - Pasadena Temple
It was Paramahansa Yogananda’s wish to have a Self-Realization Fellowship temple in Pasadena. From time to time, he would ask devotees drive him around in Pasadena looking for a place for a temple. However, it wasn’t until after his passing that this dream was realized. In the 1960’s a center was started in Pasadena, using an upstairs room in the Pacific Asia Museum on Los Robles Ave. Later, our church building was purchased on El Molino Ave.
Services in Pasadena started in 1974 and the temple was dedicated in 1976 by Brother Anandamoy, the inspiring talk given at the dedication is available on the tape, “Kriya Yoga: Portal to the Infinite.” Since then, our temple has served truth seekers with regular lecture services, meditations, and fellowship activities.
Our temple serves families and friends in the Pasadena area as well as Glendale, the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire. Lecture services are open to the public. All are invited to attend our inspirational services, special events, and bring their children to our Sunday School program.
The Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in Pasadena, California, established in 1974, is located near downtown Pasadena, approximately ten miles from Los Angeles. The Temple is composed of devoted members and friends of Self Realization Fellowship, a worldwide non-profit religious organization with international headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Self-Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda for the purpose of disseminating Kriya Yoga, a definite scientific technique for attaining direct personal experience of God.
Through its worldwide service and teachings, Self-Realization Fellowship seeks to awaken greater understanding of the harmony underlying all true religions, and a fuller expression in this world of the love that unites all people when they realize their oneness in God.
Weekly SRF lessons are available to those who would like to study the SRF teachings. These are sent from the SRF international headquarters in Los Angeles, California. The lessons contain techniques for recharging the body, concentration and meditation, and the higher meditation technique of Kriya Yoga, as well as instructions on how to live a balanced material and spiritual life.
For further information we suggest that you visit our Temple where you can find free literature and a collection of books, tapes and other items for sale in the book room. The book room at the Temple is open after the services.
As an introduction, we suggest that you read Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. Copies of this spiritual classic are available in the book room at the Temple or through most bookstores.

*Saturday, September 6th is our Day of Service at Pasadena Temple. By helping to keep our temple beautiful, you will in turn feel energized and inspired. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow devotees, and to serve God and Master in a unique way. The opening meditation begins at 10am. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be served.
* Lake Shrine will be celebrating the 58th Anniversary of her Dedication on Saturday, September 13th, from 4 pm to 9 pm. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children under age 13. Tickets are available in the Bookroom.

We want you! The Pasadena temple is still in need of Women and Men to serve as Greeters and Ushers to help us fill the greatly expanded requirement due to the size of the new Glendale Temple. We are especially looking for devotees that can serve on Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. If you can help us out please stop by the auditorium and fill out an application. |
